The Main Library of Feng Chia University and the Harley‑Davidson Taichung Flagship Center jointly organized the 2024 Graduation Week event, themed “Discover Your Value: Ride with Knowledge, Begin Your Adventure.” On May 20, the University hosted a Harley‑Davidson Exhibition and Welcome Tea Reception. Through the century‑old spirit and brand culture of Harley‑Davidson, the event encouraged Feng Chia graduates to bravely pursue challenges and chase their dreams.

“Spring rain nourishes all things, year after year.” On May 15, Feng Chia University held a reopening ceremony for Chun‑Yu Pond, located beside Virtuosi Hall. More than 200 faculty members and students attended the event, during which President Wang, Wei and Chairperson Gao, Cheng‑Shu released koi carp into the pond—symbolizing blessings upon blessings as lotus flowers meet vibrant koi.

Feng Chia University Strengthens Academic Collaboration with The University of Queensland, Enhancing Ties with a World Top‑100 Institution

In response to geopolitical developments and the post‑pandemic era, Feng Chia University has been actively expanding its collaborations with Australia in 2024. On March 5, representatives from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brisbane visited FCU to exchange views on educational and technological development between Taiwan and Australia.

On May 4, a delegation from Feng Chia University, led by Chairperson Gao, Cheng‑Shu, President Wang, Wei, Vice President Kuo‑Hao Tang, and Vice President Shwu‑Ting Lee, visited the renowned RMIT University in Australia. This marks the first time the University’s Chairperson, President, two Vice Presidents, and senior administrators have traveled together on an official overseas visit—demonstrating Feng Chia University’s strong commitment to RMIT and its determination to advance internationalization. During the trip, the delegation also met alumni in Melbourne as well as Feng Chia students currently studying at RMIT University and Monash University.

Feng Chia University Students from the Department of Environmental Engineering and Science and the Department of Automatic Control Engineering Begin Internships at Italy’s National Research Council (CNR), Exploring Hydrogen Life‑Cycle Assessment and Digital Maritime Transport

In late February 2024, Chia‑Yu Lin from the Department of Environmental Engineering and Science, together with Yun‑Ching Pu, Wen‑Cheng Tsao, and Yan‑Hua Lu from the Department of Automatic Control Engineering, began their internships at the National Research Council (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, CNR) in Rome, Italy. Their opportunities were made possible through the Ministry of Education’s Dream‑Building Study Abroad Program and Feng Chia University’s University Social Responsibility (USR) initiatives. Their internship will continue through the end of May.

Feng Chia University Ranked Third Among Private Universities in the 2024 CommonWealth Magazine USR University Responsibility Survey

In the 2024 CommonWealth Magazine “USR University Citizenship” Survey, university governance and teaching commitment were combined and weighted equally alongside environmental sustainability and social responsibility, each accounting for one‑third of the total score. A new mechanism for inter‑university peer evaluation was also introduced to assess how universities fulfill their role as key contributors to society. In recognition of its comprehensive efforts across multiple USR initiatives, Feng Chia University ranked third among private universities.

Feng Chia University’s Ching‑Chuan Chen and Wan‑Ting Hsieh Participate in the MACHI STEM Women Scientist Program at Rice University in the United States.

During her tenure as Director of the Science Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston in 2021, Hui‑Kuang Yu, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs at Feng Chia University, collaborated with Prof. Junichiro Kono of Rice University to expand the original U.S.–Japan TOMODACHI STEM Program to include Taiwan. Through this partnership, five outstanding female university students from Taiwan are selected each year to join the MACHI STEM Program, forming the combined TOMODACHI‑MACHI STEM Program, aimed at cultivating future female leaders in science and engineering.

Over 2,700 High School Students Attend the 2024 “Open Festival — Discover Feng Chia” at Feng Chia University

 On April 13, Feng Chia University hosted its annual “Open Festival 2024 — Discover Feng Chia”, welcoming high school students to explore the campus and envision their future university life. The event featured keynote talks, college spotlight sessions, and campus exploration activities, attracting more than 2,700 students and parents, with total session attendance exceeding 4,000 participants. Visitors spent their weekend learning about the University’s academic resources and student life.

Feng Chia University Students from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science Win Six Awards at the 54th Central Regional Skills Competition and Advance to the National Finals

Students from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science, Feng Chia University, achieved outstanding results at the 54th Central Regional Skills Competition held on March 29, winning a total of six awards. Those who placed in the top three also earned the qualification to compete in the national finals, which will take place in July at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, where they will represent Feng Chia University and take on greater challenges.

Feng Chia University Appoints Distinguished Professor Chiun‑Hsun Chen as Honorary Vice President to Advance Space Technology and Join Taiwan’s National Space Team

In recent years, Feng Chia University has actively promoted education and research in space technology. The university has invited renowned experts from Taiwan and abroad to serve as chair professors, cultivate talent in space-related fields, and foster the development of the space industry. On April 3, Feng Chia University officially appointed Distinguished Professor Chiun‑Hsun Chen as Honorary Vice President. With his expertise in space technology, Professor Chen will lead faculty members in advancing space-related research and development.

Feng Chia University × Taiwan AI Academy × Taiwan Takisawa Showcase AI Innovation at TMTS 2024

Feng Chia University, the Taiwan AI Academy, and Taiwan Takisawa Technology Co., Ltd. jointly presented the results of their collaboration under the AI Wind‑Fire Wheel Acceleration Project at the TMTS 2024 – Taiwan International Machine Tool Show, held from March 27 to March 31 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (TaiNEX).

At the 2024 Feng Chia Cup Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Volleyball Tournament, the Department of Economics, the Department of Mechanical and Computer-Aided Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering, and the Department of Environmental Engineering and Science claimed championship titles. It is hoped that the students will bring new vitality to the shoe industry.

The championship games of the 2024 First Feng Chia Cup “Jumping Shoes, Flying Youth” Basketball and Volleyball Tournament were held on March 29. In the men's and women's basketball and volleyball competitions, the Department of Economics, the Department of Mechanical and Computer-Aided Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering, and the Department of Environmental Engineering and Science claimed the championship titles, with each team receiving a prize of NT$36,000.

Feng Chia University Hosts University AWSome Day 2024

The Cloud Innovation School of Feng Chia University, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), hosted FCU × University AWSome Day on March 29. Since Feng Chia University joined AWS Academy and AWS Educate in 2019 and became the first AWS Partner Network (APN) Training Partner established by an educational institution in the Greater China region in 2021, the university has organized this large‑scale annual event every year.
